Develop(ing) Narratives

‘There is a crack in everything; that’s how the light gets in’
- Leonard Cohen

We are slowly losing touch - both literally and metaphorically -
with tactile experiences. In this increasingly digitised world, the tactile experiences that once shaped how we connected to each other has been greatly lost. My thesis, Develop(ing) Narratives, seeks to address this disconnect by exploring the importance of tactile engagement in storytelling. I’m looking into merging the tangible and digital and tactile coexisting with the digital to create deeper, more meaningful connections, narratives.

Nostlagia

Step by step process of forming my own visual language.

This process was part of the Visual Language A class at Pratt, where I learned to create a personal, yet communicative, visual vocabulary. By combining theory, experimentation, and personal reflection, I was able to form a visual language that not only told a story but also invited viewers to engage with their own experiences of time, memory, and nostalgia.

All that glitters is not GOLD

Myth, Skepticism and the truth about Gold in skincare.

Gold is often considered auspicious and luxurious in Indian culture, found in jewelry and even skincare products promising to deliver clear, glowing skin. But is gold really the secret behind radiant skin, or is it just another myth fueled by marketing and status symbols?

This explores the skepticism surrounding the use of gold in skincare. While gold has been associated with luxury for centuries, many experts question its actual benefits for the skin, pointing out potential allergic reactions, skin irritation, and lack of scientific evidence to support its effectiveness in promoting skin health.

The reality for 'Humans who Menstruate'

You cannot enter the kitchen, don’t touch the pickle they’ll go sour, you’re impure.
All these are prevalent ways to let an Indian woman know that their menstrual cycle, a natural process can be detrimental. The relationship between food and period is contradictory. A woman is expected to further a family by being fertile but at the same time, she’s considered to be a taboo for being fertile.

In India, many adolescent girls, in rural areas drop out of school during the onset of their menstrual cycle due to the lack of proper menstrual hygiene facilities and logical awareness of menstruation.

Menstruation does not make a woman impure, PERIOD.

What if

Inspired by the synchronized flashing patterns of fireflies, What If invites viewers to uncover the mysteries hidden within everyday moments, imagining a world where even the mundane whispers secrets waiting to be discovered.

What if a stop sign is sending you a message?
What if the moon is inviting you to look deeper into the sky?
What if a traffic signal is proposing a question?
What if a walk sign reveals some needed answer?
What if the shadows are alluring you to rethink their meaning?
What if fireflies are trying to communicate with you?

Life Changing

For Glamrs' Super Spotless Cream, which fights acne, I wanted to step away from traditional skincare beauty shots and take a more imaginative, narrative-driven approach. This concept revolves around the idea of a moonlit night and an astronaut as metaphors for the cream's powerful action against acne.

The storyboard begins with an astronaut landing on the surface of the moon, symbolizing the first step toward addressing skin concerns. The moon’s craters represent acne spots, conveying the challenges of uneven skin. As the astronaut explores, they encounter Super Spotless Cream, which transforms the lunar surface. With each application of the cream, the craters (acne spots) start to disappear, leaving behind smooth, spotless terrain #lifechanging
